Grant Sawyer's scored 20 seconds into the second overtime to lift Northfield to a 3-2 victory over Red Wing, in the Class 1A, Section 1 boys' hockey championship game on Wednesday at the Rochester Rec Center.

With their second overtime victory in five days, the Raiders (20-5-3) earned their first state tournament berth. On Saturday, the Raiders defeated Mankato East/Loyola, 3-2, in overtime in the section semifinals.

On Wednesday, Sawyer scored 38 seconds into the third period to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead.

Seth Cushing scored for Red Wing with 5:41 remaining in the third to tie the score.

Northfield outshot Red Wing 7-2 in the scoreless first overtime. For the game, Northfield outshot the Wingers 48-15.

Red Wing goalie Zach Harding had 45 saves.

Hill-Murray 5, Tartan 0: Brock Bremer scored two goals and Ben Helgeson had a goal and an assist to lead the Pioneers to the victory in the Class 2A, Section 4 semifinals.

Jake Begley had 16 saves to record the shutout for the Pioneers, who will play Stillwater in the section championship game on Friday at Aldrich Arena. Stillwater defeated Woodbury 5-1 on Tuesday to advance.

Moorhead 6, Roseau 0: The Spuds earned their first trip to the state tournament since 2013 with the victory over the Rams in the Class 2A, Section 8 final in Thief River Falls. Matt Herbranson scored two goals to pace the Spuds. Moorhead goalie Lance Leonard had 23 saves in the shutout.

Girls' basketball

Apple Valley 91, Henry Sibley 49: Sara Teske scoed 21 points and Erin Baxter and Brynne Rolland each scored 20 to pace the Eagles to the victory in the Class 4A, Section 3 quarterfinals. The Eagles (21-6) will face Rosemount in the section semifinals on Saturday.

Lakeville South 73, New Prague 60: Katie Guentzel scored 25 points to lead sixth-seeded Lakeville South past the third-seeded Trojans in the Class 4A, Section 1 quarterfinals. The Cougars (11-16) will play second-seeded Rochester Mayo in the section semifinals on Saturday in Rochester. Senior guard Maizie Deihl led the Trojans with 17 points.

Prior Lake 89, Chaska 81: Sophomore McKenna Hofschild scored a season-high 34 points and senior Riley Wheatcraft scored 30 to lead the Lakers past the Hawks in the Class 4A, Section 2 quarterfinals. Prior Lake (14-14) will play Minnetonka on Saturday in the section semifinals. Senior Sarah Althaus scored 24 and eighth-grader Kaylee VanEps scored 21 to lead the Hawks.
