'All Is Calm'

Wednesday-next Sunday: This is a new staging of the classic Theater Latte Da/Cantus meditation on the Christmas Truce of 1914 during World War I. Director Peter Rothstein created a text from soldiers' journals and letters, which had been read by three actors, and Erich Lichte arranged songs for Cantus to sing. (Later arrangements were done by Timothy Takach.) For the first time, though, Cantus will not perform and Rothstein will use 12 musical theater actors to tell the story. Lichte will return as music director. It will be interesting to see how much theatricality Rothstein adds to a show whose power rests in its ritual music and words. (7:30 p.m. Wed.-Fri., 2 & 7:30 p.m. Sat., 1 p.m. next Sun. $28-$39. Pantages Theatre, 710 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 1-800-982-2787, hennepintheatretrust.org.)
