'Crimes of the Heart'

Opening: Playwright Beth Henley won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for this dark comedy. At the center of the Southern-fried story is — what else? — a dysfunctional family. Three sisters reunite at their granddad's home, and the civility unravels into recriminations. Each sister disgorges her emotional baggage and deals with her "crime of the heart." It's a sardonic, funny play that was made into a film with Diane Keaton, Jessica Lange and Sissy Spacek. The Guthrie production, directed by Marcela Lorca, features Georgia Cohen, Maggie Chestovich and Ashley Rose Montondo. The opening is Friday, with previews earlier in the week.
