Stephen J. Cannell, awesome producer of awesome TV shows and author of many books, died yesterday at the age of 69. Millions knew what he looked like, because he put himself in the closing logos of his shows. The shot was always the same - the camera circles him as he types, and he ripped out the last page and threw it in the air.
