The fraudsters come in many disguises

Be on the lookout for: phony lawyers, phony government officials, phony bankers...

The latest helpful scam links from the Federal Citizens Information Center makes Whistleblower feel that there's an epidemic of impostoring underway. Venerable institutions are warning that scammers are using their names or posing as professionals for nefarious ends.

For example, there's the American Bankers Association's advisory late last month:

Then there's the federal agency that oversees all those banks:

Let's not forget people who pretend to be lawyers collecting on debts:

I have yet to hear about a scammer posing as a journalist, but I'm sure that's not far away.
