Yard and garden prep

It's still too early to plant most things, but there's lots you can do to prepare your yard and garden for the growing season. Bachman's horticulturist and master gardener Abby Davis will explain what you need to know, including soil amendments, fertilizers, weed prevention, mulch and more. The workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sun. at Bachman's on Lyndale, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., in the Heritage Room. The cost is $10, which includes a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more.

Antiques market

Bachman's also is hosting its free Gathering of Friends Antique Market Thu.-Sun., featuring 18 dealers offering architectural pieces, pine and oak furniture, vintage wares, pottery and collectibles. Dealers will be restocking throughout the sale, so you can find new things all four days. The market will be open during store hours at Bachman's on Lyndale, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., in the Garden Greenhouse.
