Here's an interesting nugget brought up in the Star Tribune newsroom Thursday: There are some really good No. 22s in Minnesota men's pro sports right now:

For the Timberwolves, we have reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins wearing it.

The Twins? This summer's star, Miguel Sano, is also a number 22.

On the Wild, goal-scoring forward Nino Niederreiter wears the number 22 sweater.

And for the Vikings, Harrison Smith lurks in his No. 22 jersey.

They're all relatively young, too; as long as they don't change, 22 will be a power number for years.

job security In the past two weeks, the Lions have fired three offensive coaches, plus their GM and president. Wonder how Jim Caldwell feels?

good read It's time for the NFL to "rethink its conflicting stance on gambling," writes Andrew Brandt for SI.com's Monday Morning Quarterback.
