If you are still holding out hope that the Twins aren't done shopping yet, we were reminded today that a couple of guys in their range -- Joe Saunders and Shaun Marcum -- remain unsigned. In a piece about the best remaining free agents, ESPN.com's Jim Bowden (Insider required) listed Saunders and Marcum tied for 6th (he had Delmon Young above them, so take that for what it is worth). This is what Bowden had to say:

Both of these pitchers could stay on the back burner for a while, with teams still hoping to sign Lohse. However, there is no shortage of teams looking to add another quality middle-of-the-rotation starting pitcher.

Best fits: Mets, Orioles, Cubs, Padres, Pirates and Mariners
Prediction: A return to Baltimore is the best fit for Saunders, while the Mets would be a good landing spot for Marcum.

So yeah, it's not like Bowden is saying the Twins are going to get one of them. Still, it's worth noting that the Twins were interested in enough in Saunders to reportedly offer him a contract last month. They have at least sniffed around Marcum as well.

Maybe, just maybe, one of them will wind up here by default?
