From WISN.com, found by colleague Bill Ward:

There was almost a sausage down during the Opening Day Klement's Racing Sausages relay race.

The sausage was racing down Layton Avenue when it collided with a police motorcycle that was acting as an escort.

It does not appear that Italian sausage was seriously hurt.

The sausage was able to finish his leg of the relay.

Rest easy!

Big night tonight ... please enjoy the NCAA title game, the Twins' opener AND that shaky cell phone picture we took of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak reading a proclamation regarding the 40th Anniversary of First Avenue after Saturday's Spoon show. Jody and Melissa, of Olympic guest post fame, were very impressed that the mayor would do such a thing ... for what it's worth.

And, don't forget: If the e-flyer is to be trusted, just five more days until Royce White's birthday bash. Update: If the commenter below is correct (and they could be, since we guessed the b-day bash was possibly a fake/joke and should have been more clear in the way we phrased it), then we're all out of luck.
