We had a chance to try a demo of NHL2K11 for the Wii today (due out Aug. 24) out at the Best Buy in Eagan. The Real Hockey Experience is rolling through the Twin Cities today and tomorrow (Mall of America is the stop Tuesday). Basically it's a giant RV decked out with huge TVs. They also set up screens right outside for trying out the game. The Flyers' Matt Carle was on hand today (but won't be tomorrow). Something we did not know: he makes his offseason home in the Twin Cities now and just got married a couple weeks ago (his wife is a White Bear Lake native).

In any event, you'll hear more from Carle and about the Wii version of the game in the paper (and online) in a couple of days. For now, we wanted to mention that we were told 2K Sports is also developing a version of NHL2K11 for the iPhone. To our knowledge, this info hasn't officially been released yet. So there you have it: a video game exclusive!

We're not sure how the game play or graphics will look for the iPhone, but we can tell you this: the version for the Wii is unbelievable. It's also interesting to note that the game is not available on the PS3 or 360. For consoles, anyway, NHL2K11 is a Wii exclusive this year. The time put into it shows in the stick-handling and some of the features.
