As the thrust of the Ohio State mess reportedly shifts to QB Terrelle Pryor, we just wanted to ponder this: If the NCAA ultimately decides to knock down the entire program with a sledgehammer and starts turning wins into losses because of ineligible players, etc., the Gophers -- and Tim Brewster -- could benefit.

Minnesota lost to Ohio State in 2007, 2008 and 2009 under Brewster (note: Thanks to the commenter who pointed out they played in '09 and lost 38-7. We were looking right at a media guide when we wrote this and swear we didn't see a game, but obviously they played), but their meeting in 2010 came after Brewster was fired. What if those games are turned into Minnesota victories? That very question was asked by our pal T.A. in an e-mail, which turned very giddy quickly:

Gopher football could possibly pick up a whole bunch of wins against the Buckeyes if their record from the past 5+ years gets vacated. Think of it, we are potentially UNDEFEATED against OSU in the 2000's!!

Maybe that's far-fetched. We're not even sure quite what the win/loss protocol would be if massive sanctions came down. But even the idea of Brewster picking up more victories in 2011 than he did in 2010 (Minnesota was 1-6 at the time Brewster was fired) -- even though he's not coaching the Gophers this year -- has us amused to say the least.
