Ben Heppner, the renowned Canadian tenor who was to make his Schubert Club recital debut at the Ordway Center this spring, has canceled the engagement. His agent told the Schubert Club that Heppner was overbooked.
His replacement will be up-and-coming American bass-baritone Eric Owens, who is currently appearing in "Dr. Atomic" at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and has three Carnegie Hall concerts booked this spring. Owens will make his Twin Cities recital debut April 22 at 8 p.m. at the Ordway, performing music of Schubert, Wolf, Brahms and Elgar.
