Authorities on Wednesday released the identity of a 16-year-old girl who was shot to death before her 17-year-old boyfriend killed himself in a murder-suicide.

Tabitha L. Belmonte, a sophomore at Perham High School, was shot numerous times and found dead Monday night in a home with Dylan Cox, who fatally shot himself, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office. The teens lived just west of Amor, Minn., with Cox's parents.

Sheriff Brian Schleueter said Cox shot Belmonte and used the same gun on himself. Two semiautomatic handguns were recovered from the scene, the sheriff's office said.

In reaction to the shootings, all five schools in the Perham-Dent School District were put on lockdown Tuesday. Cox was a former student at the high school, said Superintendent Tamara Uselman. The sheriff's office has not revealed what may have led to the killings.

Cox's Facebook page includes "suicidesystem" as part of its Web address and lists 1960s mass killer Charles Manson as among "people who inspire" him.

The Forum of Fargo and other news reports said Cox and Belmonte are survived by a 7-month-old daughter.
