Teen killed in head-on crash with pickup in central Minnesota

A high school student in central Minnesota lost control of his car on a wet highway, slid into the path of an oncoming pickup truck and was killed, authorities said.

The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. Sunday on Hwy. 27, east of Long Prairie, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Jacob R. Karolus, 16, a student at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle High School who participated in wrestling and football.

The other driver, Kevin J. Carlson, 36, of Brainerd, Minn., was slightly hurt.
