September 8, 2012 at 10:23PM

Safe teen driving will be celebrated Saturday at Ridgedale Center Mall where one local high school will receive a $100,000 grant.

"Celebrate My Drive, Minnesota!" is one of 13 national events sponsored by State Farm aimed at reducing car crashes involving teen drivers. The event at Ridgedale will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Teens and their families are invited to try a go-kart that demonstrates the difficulty of driving distracted. Also at the event will be the Minnesota State Patrol's rollover crash simulator.

Teen will also be encouraged to test their skills against the University of Minnesota's Distracted Dodger driver safety video game.

Several local high schools will stage performances throughout the day. Participants are eligible to win prizes, including a grand prize of $100,000. Participating high schools include Hopkins, Wayzata, Edina, Delano and Apple Valley.
