The crew that Stephen Colbert has assembled may not be familiar to viewers, but it's a deep bench that should give its boss plenty of support. A quick introduction:

Jon Batiste: Musical director and bandleader. Expect some Mardi Gras magic from this New Orleans favorite and his band, Stay Human, which will be showcased in Tuesday's premiere episode with special guests. He may be only 28, but he's already shown respect for his elders by jamming with the likes of Cassandra Wilson and Prince.

Tom Purcell and Meredith Bennett: Executive producers. These two veterans from "The Colbert Report" also were by his side for his quasi-political rally and Christmas special. Others staying in the flock include Twin Cities writer Ariel Dumas.

Sheryl Zelikson: Music producer. Not everyone from David Letterman's team has left the building. Zelikson, who started as an intern for Letterman back when he was on NBC, will continue to be the primary person you have to impress if you want to get your band on stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater.
