Here's photographic proof that Roadguy survived his onstage foray at Pecha Kucha Night #2. As mentioned in the previous post, PKN is an evening of PowerPoint presentations on speed -- 20 slides, 20 seconds per slide -- on topics such as art, technology, design and culture. As you can see by the title of my talk, I went with an area I know something about. The organizers of the event, to whom I am immensely grateful, say that the slides and audio will be posted online in about a week, so I'll hold off on describing my 400 seconds and let y'all just experience it when it's available to the masses (though I don't think you'll be able to see my laser-pointing or hear the crowd reactions).

I met numerous cool and interesting people while I was there, and my presentation wasn't the only one that touched on transportation. Matt Novak of Paleofuture.com showed off some midcentury images what of nuclear-powered cars were going to look like. Two students gave a good rundown of the University of Minnesota's Solar Vehicle Project. Chris Pennington's talk included a fun but sobering comparison of art galleries and freeway billboards. And Val Cervenka's look at Minnesota's invasive insect species was really, at the core, about transportation -- the bad kind.

Thanks to all who attended, helped, or merely sent good vibes, and extra gratitude to my friend Dan for the photos.
