Taiyon Devers commits to Gophers

The defensive end from the Georgia Prep Sports Academy gives the Gophers 16 commitments for the Class of 2016.

The Gophers added an under-the-radar defensive end to their 2016 recruiting class Saturday, when Taiyon Devers, from the Georgia Prep Sports Academy, verbally committed to Minnesota.

The 6-4, 220-pound Devers recently visited Central Florida but had no other reported offers and had yet to garner star rankings from Rivals, 247Sports or Scout.

He is reportedly scheduled to graduate from high school early so he can enroll at Minnesota in January and compete in spring practice. The Gophers now have 16 players committed for 2016.
