Lynx forward Maya Moore collected the WNBA All-Star Game hardware as the MVP for the second consecutive year. But the rock of the first half of the Lynx's season has been center Sylvia Fowles.
That was driven home again Monday when Fowles was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the most of any player in the league.
Fowles scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting in a 100-74 win over the Dallas Wings. She also collected 12 rebounds.
She is having a career-year and if she holds course, will be in contention for the league MVP award. Fowles is currently ranked fourth in scoring with 20.1 points per game, third in rebounding (9.8) and fourth in blocked shots (1.78). In the All-Star Game, Fowles showed the same efficiency around the basket that she has demonstrated all year, going 4-of-5 for eight points and five rebounds.
Tina Charles of the New York Liberty is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, for games July 17-23.
The Lynx are at home Tuesday against the Liberty.
