A 26-year-old man was charged Thursday in connection with the shooting of another man, who was found dead earlier this week on a Red Wing sidewalk.

The Goodhue County attorney charged Charles Deonta Jones, 26, in a four-count criminal complaint, alleging he killed Dangelo William Masterjohn, 27, of Red Wing. Masterjohn was shot in the chest at close range early Tuesday.

Jones was arrested Tuesday after a miles-long police chase in Pierce County Wis., just across the river from Red Wing. A sheriff's deputy had tried to pull Jones over for running a stop sign, when a chase ensued with speeds reaching about 120 miles per hour, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, Jones, Masterjohn and others were hanging out and playing with firearms at Jones' house in Red Wing. Others left as an argument between Jones and Masterjohn escalated and a single gunshot was heard inside the Sanderson Street home, the complaint said. Masterjohn left the house and walked down the block, where he was found dead.

The charges against Jones range from second-degree murder to second-degree manslaughter.
