The Road to Minneapolis saw a lot of contenders trying to make the trip, but in the end the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles are finishing up the year in Super Bowl 2018 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Patriots and Tom Brady rallied from 10 points down to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game, 24-20. In the NFC Championship, the Minnesota Vikings were wiped out by the Eagles, 38-7.

It ruined the Vikings' chance to become the first team in NFL history to host the Super Bowl in their own stadium. But the Eagles' defense dominated the Vikings on the road and for the fourth time, beat Minnesota in a playoff game.

It marked the sixth time the Vikings have lost in the NFC Championship Game. The Patriots, meanwhile, won the AFC after playing in their seventh straight. They will be shooting for a sixth Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 52 under Bill Belichick and Brady.

The Eagles and Patriots played in Super Bowl XXXIX, a 24-21 Patriots win in Jacksonville, Fla. to conclude the 2004 season.

With the way the Eagles defense is playing now, combined with a game-changing performance by quarterback Nick Foles, Super Bowl 52 could be just as close at U.S. Bank Stadium, which is hosting the Super Bowl for the first time. Minneapolis last hosted a Super Bowl in 1992 when the Redskins beat the Bills, 37-24 at the Metrodome.
