The Boston Bruins ended a 14-game losing streak against the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on Sunday, with David Krejci scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory in Washington.
Boston beat Washington for the first time since March 29, 2014, and its 14 consecutive victories against Arizona are now the longest active winning streak against one opponent in the NHL.
It was the Capitals' eighth loss in nine games.
Tuukka Rask made 24 saves and moved to the top of the Bruins' all-time victories list with 253.
"He was in control all night," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. "We were pretty clean in front of him there until the end, and when we weren't, he was there for us. Happy for him, I think the guys in the room are as well."
Calgary 4, Carolina 3: Derek Ryan, Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin scored in their first game back in Carolina, and the Flames won in coach Bill Peters' return to Raleigh. Peters resigned as Carolina's coach last offseason and took over in Calgary. The Flames later acquired Lindholm and Hanifin in a trade with the Hurricanes, and Ryan signed with Calgary after three seasons in Carolina.
Montreal 4, Edmonton 3: Jonathan Drouin scored the winner at 58 seconds of overtime in Montreal as the Canadiens handed the Oilers a fifth consecutive loss. Drouin scored seconds after Canadiens goalie Carey Price made back-to-back saves on Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse. Jesperi Kotkaniemi pulled Montreal even with 6:25 left in regulation.
