Name that pitcher: 8-0, 0.76 ERAKris Medlen has become a surprising sensation for the Braves, going 8-0 with a 0.76 ERA in 10 starts since moving into the rotation. Medlen, 26, was a shortstop and reliever for Santa Ana (Calif.) College when the Braves drafted him in the 10th round in 2006. The 5-10 righthander started 14 games for Atlanta in 2010 before undergoing Tommy John surgery. After missing most of 2011, he opened this year in the bullpen. Dating to 2010, the Braves are 21-0 in Medlen's past 21 starts.

Resilient BrewersAfter reaching the NL Championship Series last year, the Brewers have turned this into another productive season. They struggled early and traded Zack Greinke to the Angels, only to rally with a late push for a wild card. They are on pace to draw 2.8 million fans, and even if they fall short of the postseason, they'll be better moving forward with Jean Segura, 22, the talented shortstop they received in the Greinke deal.
