The best part about fashioning some wild and serious ideas about Mississippi riverfront was seeing people react to them, Daniel Carlson told me.

The just-graduated University of Minnesota senior worked with other architecture students on a project-turned-exhibit called "Imagining the Mississippi: 30 Ways to Transform the Riverfront."

One of the folks who showed up to the exhibit's opening day was Paul Labovitz, a superintendent with the National Park Service. He called me back too late to include him in the story, but left me an enthusiastic message I thought I'd share:
