As part of its on-going effort to train drivers how to safely share the road with big trucks, the Minnesota Trucking Association brought a tractor-trailer unit to Coon Rapids High School on Thursday.

Members of the American Trucking Association's Road Team instructed driver's education students regarding blind spots, tailgating and stopping distances.

As part of the demonstration, vehicles were placed in each of the truck's blind spots. Students were then given the chance to climb behind the wheel of the big rig and get a truck driver's view of the road.

A high-tech mobile classroom, including a truck driving simulator, was contained in the trailer portion of the rig.

The MTA welcomes invitations to provide the Share the Road experience with other classes and community groups.
