Two insurance professionals agreed to pay $3,000 fines and head back to school as part of the state's investigation into bogus continuing education classes. Last month, the Minnesota Department of Commerce went public with its investigation into seminars that provided hundreds of insurance agents with credit for hours they never spent in the classroom.

Earlier this month, insurance producers Carol Fassett of Bloomington and Roger Berg of St. Cloud were ordered to obtain 45 hours of training after the state said they claimed "fraudulent" credit hours through Huge and Excel Training. (Read more in the consent orders for Fassett and Berg.

The state has already taken action against the instructor, Robert W. Huge, plus two agents who organized one of the classes, as well as the training company, Excel Training Inc., and its owner. A hearing scheduled for this week was abruptly canceled after the case settled, according to a court official. When I get details on the settlement, I'll report them.
