Take it away, Stu:

The Hunt Down Name: Walter Andrew Brister III Nickname: "Bubby" allegedly comes from one of his sisters, and is a mispronunciation of "Brother." Claim to Fame, Minnesota: one glorious season as the Minnesota Vikings backup QB. He played in two games in 2000. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: is perhaps best known for his run as John Elway's backup during Denver's back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998, including a 4-0 record as starter when Elway was injured in 1998. Brister was drafted by Pittsburgh in the 3rd round of the 1986 NFL Draft. The Northeastern Louisiana alum's career with the Steelers is probably best summed up by the cheers of Steelers fans when he was knocked out of the 1991 season opener with a concussion. (A disgruntled Pittsburgh fan may have been responsible for this bit of whimsical slander in Brister's Wikipedia entry: "His reputation was not helped when a cardboard box posted a higher Wonderlic score than he did.") Equally ignominious runs with Philadelphia and the Jets followed before he resurrected his career with the Broncos. Where He Is Now: the Louisiana native is back in his home state, living in Mandeville with his wife and two children, neither of whom is named Bubby, Jr., which seems wise. If you want information on his private quarterback training camp, go to www.bubbybrister.com. He is also an outdoors enthusiast, as this clip from the Tommy Wilcox Outdoor Show makes apparent. Is He On Twitter: yes. Not a Verified Account, but looks legit, if sparsely updated. Glorious Randomness: via Pittsburgh Sports and Mini Ponies, a YouTube clip of Brister melting down in a game against the Houston Oilers. Featured: Van Halen, thunderclaps, the great old Oilers uniforms, Marv Albert and Bob Trumpy.
