A poetic and impressionistic piece about discovering Jewish identity among people of color, “Stranger” leans on proclamation rather than any story to carry its water. Writers Morgan Holmes and Erika Levy raise a lot of questions and explore a lot of experience with layers of movement and music. The actors rarely get to do more than speak the words in what is a script heavy on sloganeering and without enough depth to really illuminate the subject. Judaism, one actor proclaims, “made me feel like I belong.” Pretty sure I’ve heard that line before. (8:30 p.m. Sat., 5:30 p.m. Mon., 10 p.m. Fri. Aug. 11, 1 p.m. Sat.
