Haircuts for $10 this weekend Pro-Cuts, a division of Regis, shaves more than a little off its price for a men's haircut Friday through Sunday. The sports-themed salon that's equipped with a TV and a remote for every barber's chair will charge $10 for a shampoo, cut, head and neck massage and hot towel treatment, regularly $18, during its Dinkytown grand opening. The store is at 302 15th Av. SE., Mpls., 612-331-0014, www.getaprocut.com. Pro-Cuts also has locations in Maple Grove and Plymouth, but only the Dinkytown store is offering the special. The salons are marketed to men but are open to women, too.

Shoe outlet for kids now open If your little ones are already growing out of their shoes for back to school, Shoe Zoo in Uptown has opened a large, temporary outlet store for boys and girls in St. Louis Park (4416 Excelsior Blvd., 612-823-3988, www.shoezoo.us). Selection includes fashion boots, sandals, sneakers, first walkers, snow boots, rain boots and dress shoes in sizes from 0 to 6 months and up to adult sizes. About 9,000 pairs are on sale from 40 to 70 percent off, including some for juniors and women. Open Wednesdays through Sundays through the end of the month.

Mattress outlet closing One of the best deals on mattresses is coming to an end. Dave's Furniture World (6315 Penn Av. S., Richfield, 952-484-0834, www.davesfurnitureworld.com) will close Nov. 5. Owner Dave Smittkamp still offers double-sided mattresses, which last longer with regular flipping. Prices are $250 to $500 for a full-sized set, $300 to $600 for queen and limited quantities of king sizes for $375 to $775, including Spring Air and King Koil. Floor samples, rugs, lamps and mirrors are discounted an additional 30 percent. Dave's also has a good selection of Kodiak futons with wood frames in full or queen sizes for $400 to $600. Delivery and setup within 25 miles are free with a $500 purchase or $45 for smaller orders.

Mattress prices probably won't drop in the final days, said Smittkamp. "My prices are already among the best deals in town," he said. Smittkamp attributes the closing to the economy and people buying lower-end, no-flip mattresses at places as varied as Wal-Mart, Fleet Farm, Menards, Costco, Sam's Club, Big Lots and Arc's Value Village.
