Lake Vermilion: Anglers are enjoying good walleye and crappie action on the east side of the lake around Pike Bay and on the west side of the lake around Black Bay, by vertical jigging with a jig tipped with a rainbow chub minnow at about 17 feet. The Little Fork and Vermilion Rivers also are producing great walleye action, using crawlers and minnows at about 8-9 feet.
Leech Lake: Walleyes are hitting on jigs with shinners about 9-13 feet on the west side of the lake such as around Goose Island, Cedar Point and Breezy Point and on the west side of the lake such as Bear Island, Chippewa Bar and Diamond Point. Good crappie action is around Miller Bay using slip bobbers with small jigs and minnows.
Alexandria area: Most anglers are heading to Lake Mary or Reno for walleye action using jigs with minnows. The Chain of Lakes (Lake Geneva-Darling-Carlos-Lake Le Homme Dieu) are producing good crappie and sunfish action at shallow depths using leech or wax worms during afternoons or evenings.
Big Stone Lake: The early morning or evening hours are the best times to catch walleyes, casting or trolling at about 5 feet using spinners with crawlers around the south-end of the lake. Anglers also are enjoying some good largemouth bass, white bass and blue gill action.
Chisago City area: Walleye action is generally good on all area lakes during the evenings or early mornings around sandbars or rocks at about 5-7 feet using jigs with minnows, leeches or crawlers. Lakes such as Chisago, Green and Lindstrom are producing good panfish action in the evenings at about 5-10 feet. Northerns are hitting on crankbaits or Rapalas on most lakes.
Lake of the Woods: Anglers are enjoying an active walleye bite in bays or around Pine Island at about 14-19 feet using jigs or spinners with chub or shiner minnows. Northerns are taking spoons or crank baits near shallow weed beds in bays.
