Battle Lake area: Ottertail, West Battle and Rush lakes have provided anglers with good walleye action at 10-20 feet using Lindy Rigs with a night crawler or a leech. Spinner baits, tubes, Senkos or plastic frogs have been the baits of choice for bass action at 8-15 feet on Donald Lake, West Battle or East Battle. Northerns are about 10-15 feet on most area lakes trolling with spoons or using minnows and snells.

Chisago City area: Green, South Lindstrom and Chisago lakes are giving up good walleye action on the weed edges using a jig and a minnow or Lindy Rig about 20-22 feet. On North and South Center lakes, the best walleye action has been about 16-20 feet. For good bass action, anglers are going to Chisago, South Center and North Center using artificial baits at 15-25 feet. Northern action is good on all area lakes.

Grand Rapids area: Anglers are enjoying some of the best bass action of the season using spinner baits, frogs or surface lures at shallow depths. Good walleye action has been found on Bowstring and Lake Pokegama using spinner baits with minnows or night crawlers. Northerns are taking Number #8 Shad Raps, Husky Jerks, spoons, and spinner baits on clearer lakes with deep structures. Muskies are being caught on North Star, Moose, Deer, Big Cutfoot and Spider lakes using Cow Girl lures or spinner baits along weed lines.

Lake Vermilion: Joe Kruchowski, owner of Northwoods Bait and Tackle, said there's good walleye action on Frazier and Big Bay using night crawlers with slipbobbers or trolling weed edges at 6-12 feet. Muskies are hitting on top water baits in the late evenings on Head of the Lakes Bay, Spring Bay and Sunset Bay at 8-10 feet along weed edges. Good bass action can be found on the west side of the lake.

Park Rapids area: Walleyes are off the deeper shelves, breaks and weed lines at 18-22 feet using Number 7 or 9 Rapalas or using a jig with a leech or minnow. Anglers are catching northerns at 10-15 feet off deeper structural patterns using spoons. Good bass action can be found on most area lakes at 14-18 feet around the taller weed beds and drop-offs using Texas rigs or other plastic baits of choice.
