Ely area: According to Babes Bait and Tackle, walleye action has slowed somewhat but anglers still are catching northerns and crappies. Northerns are hitting on spinner and crank baits at 5-15 feet. White Iron Lake is producing nice crappie action using small minnows on a slip bobber.

Lake of the Woods: Anglers are reeling in walleyes just outside the Lighthouse Gap or around Pine Island using spinners with leeches, crawlers or minnows about 8-16 feet. There has also been some good walleye action on the north part of the lake, such as Little Oak and Sterran using a mix of jigging and spinners.

Detroit Lakes area: Walleyes continue to bite using live bait rigs with leeches and night crawlers about 15-25 feet. Bass are taking live or plastic baits at 11-15 feet on lakes such as Floyd, Long, Melissa, Cotton and McDonald. The best northern action has been on Sallie and Melissa.

Grand Marais area: The best walleye bite has been in the evenings about 14-18 feet using leeches or minnows on Lindy Rigs or jigs on lakes such as Saganaga and Two Island. Smallmouth bass are being caught near weed lines using crawlers or Crankbaits around weed edges. Lake Trout are hitting on spoons or crankbaits at 45-60 feet on Saganaga, Seagull or Greenwood.

Grand Rapids area: The weather has dictated where and how to fish for walleyes but the best walleye action has been on Pokegama, Trout, Wabana, Bowstring, and Sand lakes using leeches and crawlers with slip sinker jig or using a jig and minnow. Bass action has been good on most area lakes as well.

Willmar area: Big Kandiyohi Lake is producing good walleye action using leeches and crawlers about 5-10 feet. Other lakes for good walleye action have been Green Lake, Eagle Lake, Lake Florida and Lake Andrew about the 10-20 foot range. Anglers are enjoying good crappie and panfish action on most area lakes.
