State fishing report

Annandale area: Walleyes are hitting on minnows or crawlers at 18-24 inches on Clearwater Lake. Crappies and sunfish can be caught in 6-10 feet on lakes such as Clearwater, French, Granite, Pleasant, Cedar, John, and Sylvia. For northerns, anglers are using sucker minnows on Sugar, Clearwater, John and Lake Francis.

Big Stone Lake: According to Schmidt's Landing Resort, walleye action was productive where anglers found warmer water temperatures using small jigs with minnows into the rocks along shorelines. Many of the walleyes being caught were in the 16-18 inch range.

Faribault area: Anglers caught some walleyes on Cannon and Mazaska lakes using shiners or fathead minnows at shallow depths. Cedar Lake has produced the best crappie and northern action thus far using crappie minnows for crappies and sucker minnows for northerns.

Lake of the Woods: According to Borderview Lodge, the inclement weather didn't stop some anglers from catching nice-sized walleyes in the 20-inch range at shallow depths. The Rainy River produced walleyes in about 5-7 feet using jigs and shiners.

Lake Waconia: Despite the windy conditions, anglers caught some walleyes on the Harms Point area, Wagners Bay area and along the Cemetery Reef area using both artificial and live baits. Panfish and crappie action was at deeper depths (8-10 feet) but should pick up at shallower depths in coming days.

Northeast Metro: Bald Eagle and the St. Croix River, near Prescott, Wis., has produced some walleye action using jigs with fathead minnows. Lake Jane has produced nice crappie action using jigs at shallow depths.
