Budget officials said Thursday they will release an updated budget and economic forecast for the state on Dec. 3.

The forecast will provide state lawmakers a projection of the state's budget surplus, which is expected to grow from more than $860 million currently. The forecast will also provide an overview by state economist Laura Kalambokidis of Minnesota's economy.

The forecast is released twice yearly and is used by state legislators and the governor to set budget priorities.
