"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is in hyperdrive as it pursues "Avatar" and "Titanic" for the No. 1 position on the all-time worldwide box office list. It passed "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" on Friday and on Saturday it will pass "Avengers: Age of Ultron" to claim the No. 6 spot on the all-time list.

Disney's space epic, the seventh entry in the beloved "Star Wars" franchise, added $25 million from overseas on Friday and has brought in a total of $704 million from overseas. That, coupled with its $686 million domestic haul, gives it a worldwide total of $1.39 billion.

"Avatar" took in $2.8 billion in 2009 and "Titanic" hit $2.2 billion in 1997. To get a shot at them, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will have to pass some heavyweights, but it is packing that kind of punch at the box office so far.

In the next week, it's likely to pass "Jurassic World" ($1.7 billion), "Marvel's The Avengers" ($1.52 billion) and "Furious 7" ($1.5 billion). And it still has an opening in China, the No. 2 box office market in the world, on Jan. 9.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" wasted no time in getting to $1 billion in global grosses, reaching the milestone in a record 12 days, topping the 13 days it took "Jurassic World" this summer. "Furious 7" took 15 days to get to that mark, and "The Avengers," "Avatar" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" all crossed $1 billion in 19 days.

"The Force Awakens" has broken records on a daily basis since debuting on Dec. 18. On Friday it passed the $658 million domestic total of "Titanic" and is now No. 2 on the all-time domestic box office list with $686 million, behind only the $760 million brought in by "Avatar." And it has now topped the $652 million rung up by 2015's domestic box office leader "Jurassic World."
