Star Tribune to start Soccer Insider column

June 12, 2015 at 9:15PM

In response to the growing interest in soccer in the Twin Cities, the Star Tribune will debut a soccer column beginning Saturday.

Soccer Insider will be written by Jon Marthaler, who has posted extensively about the sport on our SoccerCentric blog for the past several years. Marthaler will write about the sport on a local, national and international level.

"Jon has a wide-ranging knowledge of the sport," said Glen Crevier assistant managing editor/sports at the Star Tribune. "With an MLS team on the horizon and interest in the sport growing, this is a good time to provide more about soccer for our readers on a regular basis."

Marthaler said, "People tend to ask what I'm going to write about, since the soccer world is so big. I'll spend a lot of time on Minnesota United FC and local soccer, MLS and NASL, the U.S. national teams, the big European leagues and Champions League, Liga MX, and the various World Cups and Olympics"

You can also follow him on Twitter @jmarthaler.
