Federal workers in St. Paul stressed by the government shutdown can seek relief Tuesday at four popular W. 7th Street pubs offering free beer during the late afternoon happy hour.

From 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday only, any federal worker showing a valid government ID can get a free beer at the Liffey, Burger Moe's, Tom Reid's or the Eagle Street Grille.

"We want government employees to know we think they are all essential, we support them and their first round is on us," said Kevin Geisen, owner of the Eagle Street Grille.

The promotion was organized by Visit St. Paul, the city's convention and visitors bureau.
