St. Paul police say a domestic assault suspect was shot and wounded Sunday night as officers tried to arrest him.
Authorities say the man tried to flee as officers tried to take him into custody and drove his vehicle in the direction of an officer on foot. That officer fired his weapon and struck the 53-year-old St. Paul man, who continued to flee.
Police say he drove about a mile before crashing his vehicle. He abandoned the vehicle and tried to run away. He was arrested a short time later and taken to Regions Hospital for treatment.
