ST. PAUL, Minn. — McNally Smith College of Music will host the inaugural Lowertown Guitar Festival in downtown St. Paul next month.

The free day of live music will take place Aug. 10 in Mears Park.

The festival will celebrate the guitar and the artists who play it.

The lineup features Scott Henderson of jazz fusion group Tribal Tech; Marc Ribot (REE'-boh), who has worked with Elvis Costello and Tom Waits; Fender guitar clinician Greg Koch (kawk); "A Prairie Home Companion" regular Pat Donohue; and St. Paul-based guitar tech Molly Maher as emcee.

McNally Smith also will host free guitar workshops on its nearby campus the morning of the festival. Guitarists ages 15 to 19 are encouraged to enter the Clash of the Teen Guitar Titans competition after the clinics.
