To help ease the expected crush of fans going to this weekend's Red Bull Crashed Ice Championships at the Cathedral of St. Paul, the City of St. Paul on Thursday announced a bevy of transportation options and routes for getting there.

Approximately 140,000 aficionados of breakneck ice-racing are expected to attend the event on Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27. They are encouraged to arrive early – and stay late, officials said.

According to a news release from the city, transportation options include:

  • The Green Line: Use Metro Transit Free Rides to Crashed Ice!
  • Ride-sharing: please use the Capitol Center Plaza area for drop offs, along John Ireland Blvd, between 12th Street West and Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Bus: Use Metro Transit Free Rides on buses to Crashed Ice! Metro Transit Bus Schedule for Red Bull Crashed Ice
  • Driving:
  • Drivers coming to the events from the east via westbound I-94 are recommended to exit at 6th Street or 12th Street to avoid construction.
  • Drivers coming from the west via eastbound I-94 are recommended to exit at Marion Street or Dale Street. If you choose to exit on Dale Street you will want to continue eastbound through the Dale Street intersection along the frontage road.
  • Drivers coming to the events from the north via southbound 1-35E are recommended to exit at 12th Street and follow 12th Street to John Ireland Boulevard.
  • Drivers coming to the events from the south via northbound I-35E are recommended to exit at Kellogg Boulevard.
  • Drivers coming to the events from the south via Shepard Road are recommended to either follow Randolph Avenue (left from Shepard) to West 7th Street (right from Randolph) and follow the signs around the Red Bull Block Party to Kellogg Boulevard.
  • Shuttles: View the businesses providing shuttles to the event.
