ST. PAUL, Minn. — The St. Paul City Council is set to vote on a resolution this week that would set plans for a new outdoor archery range in motion.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (http://bit.ly/1vYCW7I ) city offiicals want to convert land at Pig's Eye Park into an outdoor range. The resolution directs the city's parks department to apply for up to $10,000 in grants from the state Department of Natural Resources. If the DNR complies, the city would pitch in $5,000 from a matching fund.

City Council President Kathy Lantry is sponsoring the resolution. She says a growing number of residents have inquired about where they can practice archery.

The council is expected to vote on the resolution on Wednesday.
