'An American in Paris'

Peter Davison fuses contemporary ballet and physical theater in this one-act inspired by the Gene Kelly film, presented by St. Paul Ballet. Set against George Gershwin's classic score, the work stars Jim Lieberthal as wealthy aristocrat Henri, Preston Stockert as Jerry the American and Nicole Brown as Lise the Parisian schoolteacher for an evening of dance fueled by storytelling and romance. SPB pairs it with artistic director Zoé Emilie Henrot's work "Locked Key" and a piece called "Ballet Through the Ages," which includes snippets of "Giselle," "Paquita," "Sleeping Beauty" and more. FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
