St. John's coaching search down to 3 finalists

St. John's University has named three finalists to replace John Gagliardi as football coach: Eden Prairie High School coach Mike Grant, Johnnies assistant Gary Fasching and former Carleton coach Kurt Ramler. All three are St. John's alumni and played under Gagliardi.

Each finalist will have one full day of on-campus interviews -- Grant on Monday, Fasching on Tuesday and Ramler on Wednesday. Their on-campus visits will include a one-hour public forum.

Grant's appearance will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Alumni Lounge on the third floor of the SJU Quadrangular; Fasching's at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the J-Club Room in the Warner Palaestra, and Ramler's at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 264 of the Quad.

U women sign seven The unbeaten and No. 1-rated Gophers women's hockey team has announced that it signed seven players last month for the 2013-14 season.

Coach Brad Frost said he is thrilled with the class: forwards Dani Cameranesi, Blake; Kate Flug, Roseville; Kate Schipper, Breck, and Megan Wolfe of Eagan; defenseman Kelsey Cline, Bloomington Jefferson, and Paige Haley, Red Wing, and goalie Sidney Peters who attends the North America Hockey Academy in Stowe, Vt. Peters is from Geneva, Ill.
