St. Joe's v. Minnesota: Gophers need to maintain momentum

Minnesota needs a win to continue to build momentum entering Big Ten play.

December 12, 2009 at 8:39PM

Just three games left before Big Ten play.

Minnesota needs to enter its Dec. 29 opener against Penn State with the momentum that only comes from winning.

St. Joe's has lost five in a row, but the Hawks nearly knocked off No. 3 Villanova Wednesday.

I think the Gophers will have a solid test against St. Joe's this afternoon. But I expect them to win.

Will Tubby Smith stick with the three-guard lineup? I think he will, especially since St. Joe's is a guard-oriented team.

Prediction: Minnesota 85, St. Joe's 72
