Race distance: 218.9 miles, 110 laps

Last year: Carl Edwards raced to his first road-course win.

Last race: Kurt Busch won the rain-shortened race at Michigan on July 14 for his second win of the year.

Fast facts: A.J. Allmendinger won the pole on Saturday. ... Five-time Sonoma winner and nine-time road-course champ Jeff Gordon, who began his racing career in Northern California, will start fifth. ... Tony Stewart has seven road-course victories, two at Sonoma and five at Watkins Glen. ... Matt Kenseth qualified third. He has just six career top-10 finishes in 30 starts on NASCAR's road courses.
