If the look-but-don't-touch experience found at most museums and galleries turns you off, the Red Hot Art Festival could be your segue into the world of art. The two-day grass-roots art festival focuses on accessible, interactive art from emerging local artists and musicians alike against the backdrop of Stevens Square Park. It offers the kind of DIY vibe sorely lacking in most art fests -- you could snag some one-of-a-kind earrings made from recycled materials, or a politically imbibed cartoon made-to-order, all at prices so cheap you can stock up on a few of the curious artifacts. This year's fest boasts 100 artist booths, 25 musical acts on two stages, and food from local vendors, as well as site-specific installations throughout the park. Music highlights include Unicorn Dream Attack (5:30 p.m.) and National Bird (3 p.m.) on Saturday, and Goondas (2 p.m.) and Fort Wilson Riot (2:30 p.m.) on Sunday. (11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat. & 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun. Free. Stevens Square Park, 1801 Stevens Av. S., Mpls. www.redhotart.org)
