MELISSA MANCHESTER
Saturday: Before Clive Davis relied on "American Idol" for new talent, he and his scouts used to scour clubs and cabarets. One of his early discoveries for his new Arista label in the early 1970s was Melissa Manchester. With Davis' guidance, she became a middle-of-the-road pop star, starting with "Midnight Blue" (which first broke on Twin Cities radio) and a few Oscar-nominated movie themes. Manchester, who is married to Kevin DeRemer, a former rock musician from Edina, will return to inaugurate the new 1,000-seat Burnsville Performing Arts Center. (8 p.m. Sat. $25-$100. 126th St. and Pillsbury Av. S., Burnsville. 651-989-5151.)
