Sports briefly: Diana Taurasi becomes WNBA's all-time leading scorer

Diana Taurasi became the WNBA's career scoring leader on Sunday in the Phoenix Mercury's 90-59 loss to the Sparks in Los Angeles.

Taurasi came into the game needing 14 points to break Tina Thompson's mark, and the Mercury guard did it late in the first half on a layup.

Taurasi, 35, has 7,494 points and a 19.9 scoring average in her 13 seasons. Thompson needed 17 years to achieve her total.

Earlier in the season, Taurasi set the career record for three-pointers.

• Breanna Stewart had 22 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots for the host Seattle Storm in a 75-57 victory over the 0-11 San Antonio Stars.

Decker to Titans

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Gophers wide receiver Eric Decker.

Hip and shoulder injuries limited Decker to three games last year with the New York Jets. The Jets released him earlier this month.

Fleury available

Goalies Marc-Andre Fleury (Pittsburgh), Roberto Luongo (Florida), Petr Mrazek (Detroit) and Michal Neuvirth (Philadelphia) were among players made available for expansion Vegas.

The Golden Knights will choose one player from each of the 30 other NHL teams and submit their list Wednesday.

Other players left unprotected were Nashville forward James Neal, Anaheim defenseman Sami Vatanen and Ottawa defenseman Marc Methot.

• The NHL salary cap will increase to $75 million next season, an increase of $2 million.

Henderson wins

Brooke Henderson won the Meijer LPGA Classic for her fourth LPGA Tour title, holding off Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson by two strokes in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Henderson, 19, closed with a 66 on the Blythefield layout that was reduced to a par of 69 — the fifth hole was played as a par 3 instead of a par 5 — the final two rounds because of flooding. Henderson finished at 17-under 263.

• Aaron Wise completed a wire-to-wire victory in the Air Capital Classic in Wichita, Kan., to lock up a PGA Tour card with his first Web.com Tour title.

Near upset at Le Mans

German driver Timo Bernhard led Porsche to a third straight win at the 24 Hours Le Mans race, preventing a huge upset win for the lesser category Oreca team.

Bernhard, racing in the faster and more powerful LMP1 category Porsche 919 Hybrid, overtook the LMP2 category Oreca, driven by 19-year-old Frenchman Thomas Laurent, with about one hour remaining.

• Clay Millican raced to his first career Top Fuel victory, beating Leah Pritchett in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals final in Bristol, Tenn. The Tennessee driver won in his 254th Top Fuel start and ninth final-round appearance.

Beavers, Tigers clash

One of the two longest active winning streaks in Division I will end Monday night in Omaha. That much is known.

Oregon State (55-4) has won 22 in a row entering its College World Series showdown against LSU (49-17), which has won 17 straight. Both teams won their CWS openers on Saturday.

On the second day of the CWS, Louisville defeated Texas A&M 8-4. Louisville had gone 0-5 over its last three appearances in Omaha. The Aggies have lost seven straight CWS games. TCU and Florida played the late game.

AROUND THE HORN

NBA: A blockbuster trade between Philadelphia and Boston is scheduled to become finalized on Monday. The 76ers will acquire the Celtics' No. 1 overall pick in Thursday's draft, and with it take University of Washington point guard Markelle Fultz. Philadelphia is expected to give up the No. 3 pick and some formulation of the Los Angeles Lakers' first-rounder in 2018 or the 2019 Sacramento pick with protections.

Sailing: Emirates Team New Zealand sailed to two more dominating victories over two-time defending champion Oracle Team USA to remain undefeated in the America's Cup on the Great Sound in Bermuda. Team New Zealand needs to win four more races to return the Auld Mug to the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron in Auckland, where it resided from 1995-2003.

Obituary: Former UFC heavyweight fighter Tim Hague, 34, died Sunday after suffering a brain injury during a boxing match on Friday in Edmonton, Alberta.
