Music fans might want to check the schedules of their favorite local indie moviehouses this week, because there are couple cool one-night-screenings of rock documentaries happening:

Tonight at the Parkway Theater in south Minneapolis, host Rob Chapman is bringing in local music legend and all-out musicologist Tony Glover to talk after a screening of the recent Doors film, "When You're Strange," narrated by Johnny Depp. Glover's band Koerner, Ray & Glover were the Doors' labelmates on Elektra Records and reportedly had quite an influence on Morrison & Co. The movie shows at 7 p.m. ($14 tickets go on sale starting at 5:30). Glover could also maybe return and talk for the Parkway's next rock-doc night Dec. 1, when they'll be showing the seminal Dylan movie "Don't Look Back."

Next week, Sound Unseen will take over Trylon Microcinema again on Wednesday night to host a screening of "The Ballad of Mott the Hoople," a new documentary on the Ian Hunter-led band that brought us "All the Young Dudes" (via Bowie). Theirs is actually a pretty unusual, fascinating story. Click here for details on that showing.
