Temperatures turned cool following the storm that dumped substantial snow overthe Rockies and kicked up powerful winds across the Desert Southwest.

Temperatures will finally begin to moderate starting Saturday as a dip in thejet stream shifts eastward. Highs on Saturday will exceed Friday's highs by 5to 10 degrees throughout the Southwest.

The air will continue to warm Sunday into early next week as a ridge of highpressure builds overhead. Temperatures on Tuesday will soar into the mid-90s inPhoenix. That is a dramatic change from the 73-degree high that was recorded onThursday.

It should be noted that the immediate California coastline will remain cool onSaturday, but temperatures will eventually warm into early next week as anoffshore flow develops.
